The River View Ranch house rises from the Utah landscape like a transplanted European manor, its presence both commanding and deliberate. Built as the ceremonial heart of a working ranch, it blends Old World craftsmanship with Western purpose—dark walnut walls and ceilings, stained-glass windows, and a procession of fireplaces anchoring rooms meant for gathering. Once owned by Debbi Fields, founder of Mrs. Fields Cookies, the house carries the imprint of a private vision shaped by scale, hospitality, and permanence. As Forbes observed, the home was never intended as a showpiece alone but as a place where refinement and utility coexist, where large-scale hospitality feels intimate rather than imposing. Now held by the Sterling Foundation, the estate reads as both legacy and stewardship, framed by river meadows and distant peaks, holding a quiet authority that is at once grand and grounded.
Imam Dawood Yasin—at once a scholar of Islam and a natural outdoorsman—will lead guided hikes through the surrounding landscape, where learning unfolds in motion rather than within walls. Rooted equally in sacred knowledge and the rhythms of the natural world, he invites participants to walk with intention, allowing breath, terrain, and silence to become teachers alongside words. Our time together will be spent hiking as a means of drawing nearer to the Divine, where each step becomes a form of remembrance and the vastness of the land sharpens inward awareness. In this setting, knowledge is not merely discussed but embodied, discovered through effort, reflection, and the quiet intimacy that arises when faith is practiced under open sky.
After lunch daily, Imam Dawood will cover the seerah of our Prophet (pbuh) and after dinner he will cover teachings of tazkiya (spiritual refinement). Please note that hikes will be moderate, averaging about 5 miles with 1,000 vertical feet.
